The Tax Collector’s budget is approved by the Florida Department of Revenue. How do we operate? The Tax Collector’s Office employs 80 highly-skilled and motivated people. We operate six offices throughout the county and are conveniently located to make doing business with us effortless. The offices are located in Shalimar, Crestview, Niceville, Destin, Eglin AFB, and Hurlburt Field. The Okaloosa County Tax Collector is a constitutional office that collects and distributes over one-quarter billion dollars annually in taxes and fees. Okaloosa Gas District (the District) is a natural gas utility that constructs, operates, and maintains a natural gas transmission and distribution system across a three-county area in Northwest Florida. The District serves over 50,000 residential and commercial customers. It also provides service to Whiting Field in Santa Rosa County, as well as military installations in Okaloosa and Walton counties, including Eglin, Hurlburt, Duke, Ammo, TAC, Red Horse, and the 7th Special Forces. Additionally, the District supplies gas to the city utilities of Milton and Gulf Breeze and transports gas for TECO Peoples Gas in Panama City Beach. As a full-service utility, the District offers a wide range of gas-related services, including piping, installation, and various gas-burning appliances.
