The essence of our work is including individuals within the community regardless of their abilities so that they are able to enjoy the benefits of being able to participate and contribute across all areas of life. We do this by providing services such as; - SLC (Interpreting Services), - Employment (DEAFinite), - Childrens Services (LEAP language early access program, Auslan For Families, home-based support and learning), - Community Services, and - Social opportunities. The advocacy scope of the WA Deaf Society is broad, covering civic involvement, early intervention, education, employment, healthcare, assistive technology, telecommunications, leadership, and more improving the lives of deaf and hard of hearing West Australians. The WA Deaf Society also carries out its national advocacy work through coalition efforts with other state based deaf and hard of hearing organizations, as well as coalitions representing national cross-disability organisations.
