Über den Vienna City Marathon Der Vienna City Marathon (VCM) feiert am 6. und 7. April 2019 seine 36. Auflage. Das Event wird seit 1984 jährlich durchgeführt und mobilisiert als Österreichs größte Sportveranstaltung rund 40.000 Läuferinnen und Läufer. Teilnehmer aus ganz Österreich und rund 125 Nationen sind die Hauptdarsteller in einem sportlichen und mitreißenden Theater der Emotionen. Weltstars des Laufsports wie Haile Gebrselassie und Paula Radcliffe haben mit ihren Auftritten die Fans und Fernsehzuschauer begeistert. Eine Million Menschen verfolgt das Geschehen direkt an der Strecke, in der TV-Liveübertragung und über digitale Medien. Run Vienna - Enjoy Classics Mit der Positionierung Run Vienna Enjoy Classics verbindet der Vienna City Marathon die kulturellen und touristischen Images von Wien mit einem modernen Lauferlebnis. Die Strecke führt zu vielen der wichtigsten historischen und modernen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Das Ziel liegt direkt am Prachtboulevard Ringstraße zwischen Burgtheater und Rathausplatz. Aktuelle Jahresthemen prägen die Inszenierung der Veranstaltung über das sportliche Geschehen hinaus. Side-Events wie die Garofalo Pasta Party und die VCM-Messe Vienna Sports World erweitern das Angebot für Besucher. Vielfältige positive Effekte Dank seiner positiven Atmosphäre hat sich der VCM zu einer Plattform für Sozial- und Charityprojekte entwickelt. Teilnehmer engagieren sich im Rahmen von Run for Charity für eine persönliche Herzensangelegenheit. Der VCM ist ein bedeutender Wirtschaftsfaktor für Tourismus und Handel und generiert laut WienTourismus jährlich wiederkehrend über 80.000 Nächtigungen. Teilnehmer legen am Rennwochenende rund 750.000 Kilometer zurück, und noch viel mehr in der Vorbereitung. Damit ist der VCM die größte Bewegungs- und Gesundheitsinitiative Österreichs. Die Veranstaltung bietet eine Plattform zur Verankerung von Sport in Unternehmenskulturen und für technologische Innovationen.
