The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA) is a statutory authority funded by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. VARTA provides independent information and support for individuals, couples and health professionals about fertility and issues related to assisted reproductive treatment. This includes IVF, surrogacy and donor-conception. VARTA is responsible for: • Managing the donor conception registers and providing information and support to applicants and people affected by applications • The registration of ART clinics and approval of import and export of donated eggs, sperm and embryos formed from donor gametes in and out of Victoria • Monitoring developments, trends and activities relating to the causes and prevention of infertility and the ART industry in Victoria, Australia and internationally. Our work is guided by the principles outlined in the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008 and is free from commercial interests. We are also guided by the latest scientific and medical evidence and consultation with appropriate stakeholders. VARTA is the lead agency in the Fertility Coalition, a group of five independent organisations running the national health promotion program Your Fertility. Your Fertility aims to increase awareness of facts about fertility and how to improve the chance of pregnancy and a healthy baby. Events range from 70m to 3200m, and cater for athletes from age 11 and up. With prize money ranging from $300 to $60,000, there truly is something for everyone. The Victorian Coastal Council (VCC) is appointed by the State Government of Victoria in accordance with the Coastal Management Act 1995. Under the Act the Council has the following functions: * Statewide strategic coastal planning * Prepare and submit to the Minister a draft Victorian Coastal Strategy * Provide advice to the Minister * Facilitate the operation of Regional Coastal Boards * Monitor the development of Coastal Action Plans * Coordinate the implementation of the Victorian Coastal Strategy and Coastal Action Plans * Prepare and publish guidelines for the planning and management of the coast * Liaise with and encourage the cooperation of Government departments, public authorities, municipal councils, industry, community groups and persons and bodies involved in the planning, management and use of the coast in furthering the objectives of the Act * Provide opportunities for the public and interested groups to be informed of and involved in the work of the Council * Encourage the work of volunteers in using and conserving coastal resources * Give consideration to the needs of Aborigines and other interested groups in relation to the coast.
