VWCCS is an organisation which prepares and supports victims and witnesses of crime who are required to testify at court in NSW. Our role is to prepare and assist police witnesses giving evidence at criminal hearings, so more positive outcomes can be achieved for both the Prosecution and their witnesses. We know that appearing in court as a victim or a witness of crime can be both confusing and daunting. VWCCS can make this process easier for you by providing you with the information you need and being there with you at court to make you feel safe and comfortable. VWCCS can be there for you, if you need us, throughout the entire trial. Our service is free. VWCCS was established in 2006 and continues to expand around Australia as volunteers and sustainable resources become available. VWCCS is a completely independent organisation, staffed by volunteers. VWCCS does not operate under the umbrella of any organisation. Our independence allows us the flexibility to give court support and assistance to clients involved in criminal hearings held under the State jurisdiction of the Local, District, Supreme, Childrens and Coroners Courts of New South Wales, and in some instances other States in Australia, as well as criminal matters held under the Commonwealth jurisdiction. The ability to work in State and Commonwealth jurisdictions makes VWCCS a unique court support agency for victims and witnesses of crime.
