Criada em 10 de dezembro de 1.970, através da Lei n.º 5.647, a Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso incorporou a Faculdade Federal de Direito de Cuiabá, instituída em. 1.934, cujo funcionamento, entretanto data apenas de 1.956, e o Instituto de Ciências e Letras de Cuiabá. A UFMT, tem procurado contribuir efetivamente, desde sua implantação, com o desenvolvimento regional, atuando nas áreas de ensino de graduação, pesquisa, ensino de pós-graduação, pesquisa e extensão, mantendo os campi de Cuiabá, Rondonópolis, Médio Araguaia e Sinop, além de forte presença nas demais regiões de Mato Grosso, com projetos de interiorização no âmbito do ensino de graduação: licenciaturas parceladas, turmas especiais, ensino à distância, sempre em parceria com os governos federal, estadual e municipal.

Our group has started its first commercial activity thirty years ago, in Istanbul, Turkey. In 1998 it has started producing IR heating elements with a special wire wound, which was designed and developed in house, and introduced these electric heaters to the customer under UFO brand. Thanks to the economy, efficiency and environment-friendly operation, the heaters received a big demand from Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian markets. In a very short time UFO became the market leader in these countries. Apart from the consumer products UFO transferred this technology to another company in the group i.e EMKO for industrial applications. Today we are providing heating solutions to many customers in plastics, automotive, glass, wood-working, food ,textiles etc. industries. Due to continuously increasing energy prices and the hazard to the environment, caused by fossil fuel, new heating alternatives gain gradually more importance. Heating with electricity, the only energy type which doesn’t have any waste, does not pollute the environment, obtainable by renewable energy sources and the most efficient, most advanced type of that, Infrared heating is introduced to the consumer use. UFO begins heating in such a short time as 27 sec., that it converts 94 % of the energy it uses into heat by infrared luminescence, UFO is efficient; it prevents waste of energy and helps avoiding environmental pollution. Tradition, modernity and innovation are characteristics in the identity of the Federal University of Ouro Preto (Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto - UFOP). It was the innovative spirit, present since the creation of the School of Pharmacy, in 1839, and the School of Mines, in 1876, that became the basis from which would be born, in 1969, the Federal University of Ouro Preto. Ten years later it had already incorporated the Institute of Human and Social Sciences (Instituto de Ciências Humanas e Sociais - ICHS). In the Summer of 2014, we expanded our mission to foster creativity by launching a member-based collective intent on cultivating a collaborative and inclusive arts community.
