Greensboro ranks 31% above the national poverty average. 57,000 Greensboro residents, which includes one out of every four children, lives in poverty. According to local self-sufficiency standards many four-member households need to earn around $60,000 to meet basic needs without subsidized assistance.

United Way of Greater New Bedford brings people from all across the region – local businesses, volunteer groups, nonprofits and concerned citizens – together to tackle community issues. Our United Way is one of over 1,300 independent, self-governing United Way organizations throughout the United States and is overseen by a local Board of Directors.
