Satpos Ocean Sense was established with a mission of empowering ocean farmers to develop and scale marine food resources profitably and sustainably. The company is doing this by developing a low-cost, plug ‘n play smart sensor solution which attaches to any existing buoy, and to other floating objects (e.g., jetties). The sensor solution will capture multi-parameter ocean data, which will be transmitted to a cloud software solution for visualization, processing, and analysis. This allows for data-driven optimization of ocean farming processes, e.g., by establishing correlations between ocean parameters and harvesting yields. It also enables reductions in manual operations and safety hazards through real-time monitoring and detection. The device is optimized for and competitive in cost, size, durability, and data accuracy. The collection of global data from an expanding sensor network will allow large-scale digital ocean profiling and remote control of ocean farms, as well as prediction of future ecological and environmental changes to the ocean environment.
