Welcome to Queen’s Radio (QR), Northern Ireland’s original student radio station. Based in the Students’ Union of Queen’s University Belfast and run entirely by students, our aim is to keep the student community in Belfast and beyond entertained with relevant programming, content and of course great music. As a university society, Queen’s Radio provides it’s members the chance to present, produce and more, passing on invaluable experience for future careers in the media industry. We work closely with the Students’ Union and local companies to ensure we’re not only heard around campus but have a visible presence at events across Belfast. In addition, we act as full-fledged society of the university, with social events for our members to ensure that QR is as much about the relationships it stands on as the music it plays. Set up as a radio station in 2003 (the radio society at Queen’s dates back as far as 1953) and broadcasting online since, QR has consistently endeavoured to be a hub for all kinds of music, as well as one of the most welcoming and friendly societies for its members. Our varied schedule promises more variety and entertainment than can be found at your typical radio station. Our daytime shows bring you music new and old along with reviews, news, competitions, interviews, giveaways, quizzes and plenty more brilliant features. Evenings and weekends are dedicated to bringing you the widest variety of music possible with everything from blues to hip hop covered by one of our more specialised shows. We’re as busy off air as we are on air, making connections with the cultural scene around Belfast and providing a platform for up and coming bands. With a packed calendar of events planned for the year ahead, and collaborating with other Queen’s societies such as RAG, we’ll be all over the city with local gigs, comedy nights and everything in between organised by our team. We are Queen’s Radio, and we’re the sound of Queen’s University Belfast!
