The Nelson Provincial Museum is the regional museum of Nelson Tasman. The Museum is the repository of material culture and a proponent of local, distinctive intangible culture. It presents regional history, natural history, mātauranga Māori and contemporary narratives in stimulating and provocative ways. The Museum is administered by the Tasman Bays Heritage Trust charitable trust, registered with the NZ Charities Commission.

The Nelson Regional Development Agency (NRDA) was established by the Nelson City Council on 1 July 2016, from the merger of the former Nelson Regional Economic Development Agency and Nelson Tasman Tourism. The purpose of the NRDA is to enhance the sustainable economic vitality of the Nelson Tasman region by leading the development of a unique and compelling Regional Identity. It is structured as a publicly-owned owned company or Council Controlled Organisation (CCO), with two shareholders, Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council. Company Mission: To bring together people, information and investment in creative ways to deliver leading destination marketing, strategic destination management and regional information services. NTT undertakes destination marketing and destination management for Nelson Tasman region, and visitor information services, managing the region's i-SITE information centres.
