Nature Québec est un organisme national à but non lucratif (OBNL) qui regroupe plus de 5000 membres et sympathisants et 130 organismes affiliés œuvrant à la conservation de la nature, au maintien des écosystèmes essentiels à la vie et à l’utilisation durable des ressources. Travaillant depuis 1981 au maintien de la diversité des espèces et des écosystèmes, Nature Québec souscrit aux objectifs de la Stratégie mondiale de conservation de l'Union internationale pour la conservation de la nature (UICN), dont il est membre. À ces fins, Nature Québec a constitué des commissions autour de grands thèmes intégrateurs. Ces commissions interviennent dans les domaines de l’agriculture, des aires protégées, de la biodiversité, de l’eau, de l’énergie et des changements climatiques, et de la forêt. Prônant le consensus et la vie démocratique, les commissions sont animées par un important réseau de bénévoles et de collaborateurs détenteurs d’une expertise de terrain irremplaçable, ainsi que d’universitaires et de chercheurs spécialisés, par exemple dans les domaines de la biologie, de la foresterie, de l’agronomie et des sciences de l’environnement.
