Le MAPAR a été créé en 1982 par le Département dAnesthésie-Réanimation de lhôpital de Bicêtre. Le Congrès annuel est rapidement devenu lun des congrès nationaux majeurs de la spécialité. Ce congrès est fondé sur une philosophie pédagogique, un état desprit qui ont pour but de privilégier la communication dinformations utiles au clinicien et de renforcer sa capacité de décision en informant la pratique clinique grâce à des supports théoriques. Le MAPAR organise également des stages à la neige, à la mer et à lhôpital. Le MAPAR édite le Guide de « Protocoles », que de nombreux collègues ont dans leur poche pour y retrouver à la fois le plan général de prise en charge diagnostique ou thérapeutique ou la description dune technique mais aussi le petit détail pratique qui échappe à leur mémoire. Ce Guide est mis à jour tous les trois ans par un travail méticuleux de lensemble des médecins du service. Le MAPAR a également joué un rôle pédagogique innovant en ayant installé le premier simulateur de situations aiguës de la région parisienne. Cette activité de simulation pour les métiers de la santé est ensuite passée sous légide officielle de la faculté de Médecine Paris Sud mais les médecins du Département dAnesthésie-Réanimation y jouent un rôle essentiel, tant dans la direction du centre que dans linnovation pédagogique et lactivité de recherche. Les activités du MAPAR sont visibles par linterface que représente le site Internet sur lequel lensemble des activités, qui reflètent le travail de lAssociation, sont disponibles. Le MAPAR est actuellement organisme de développement professionnel continu (O-DPC) et construit des programmes dans ce sens. Orienté vers la pratique de notre spécialité, profondément ancré dans une dynamique universitaire de recherche et denseignement, innovant et libre de ses choix, le MAPAR est un point de convergence et un modèle pour les professionnels de la spécialité. Animé au cours des 35 dernières années par plusieurs générations successives de médecins, le MAPAR est un allié essentiel dun Département dAnesthésie-Réanimation universitaire actif et tourné vers lavenir.
