Makerere University Joints AIDS Program is a company limited by guarantee under Makerere University working towards consolidation of the model for the provision of the full continuum of HIV/AIDS and TB prevention, care and treatment services whilst contributing to national health systems strengthening for delivery of quality services. MJAP emerged from the Mulago-Mbarara Teaching Hospitals JointAIDS Program which was established in November 2004 under the then Makerere University Faculty of Medicine with funding from the US Presidents Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and technical assistance from the United States of America Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the provision of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services.In 2010, MJAP was competitively awarded a five year grant from the American government through CDC to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in the Mulago and Mbarara National Referral and Teaching Hospitals as well as Butabika hospital. Since 2004, we have grown to be a leader in the provision and scaling up of HCT, Basic HIV/AIDS care, TB/HIV integrated services, ART including Post exposure prophylaxis and support for victims of sexual and Gender-based violence in the two largest national teaching hospitals and several satellite clinics. We have achieved this through collaboration with Ministry of Health (MoH), the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program (NTLP), and indirectly through the host institutions that leverage resources from the Global Fund (GFTAM). Currently, we are working with a variety of other collaborators and partners hosted by MoH such as Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC), The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Baylor College of Medicine, Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), Protecting Families Against HIV/AIDS (PREFA), and health units such as Regional Referral Hospitals (RRHs), Mulago TB Unit, Mbarara Municipal Council, Kampala City Council (KCC) health centers and many others.

MakerMask is a volunteer-based organization that provided information and research about mask materials and designs to aid global communities of sewists, makers, and manufacturers in their local efforts. More specifically, we research, test, and share information about mask materials and designs intended for use as stop-gap solutions during the current COVID-19 crisis. These solutions are targeted at compliance with COVID-19 specific Emergency Use Authorizations set forth by the FDA.
