The Council is committed to and shares the vision for Maidstone, identified in the Strategic Plan 2019-2045: "We want Maidstone Borough to work for the people who live, visit and work; now and in the future. We want a Borough where there is a variety of jobs, housing need is met and infrastructure is in place to meet the growing needs of our residents and economy. We also want to ensure we lead and shape our place as it grows, including leading master planning and investing to bring about high quality housing and jobs in the Borough." Maidstone Borough is considered a good place to live and work with high rates of employment, relatively low levels of adults claiming incapacity benefits and a higher proportion of residents who have a degree than the South East average. Larger numbers of people commute into than out of the Borough. The Borough has a very mixed business sector with large numbers of small and medium size businesses with particular strengths in professional services (law and accountancy) and construction. There is a growing media industry led by Maidstone Studios and the Kent Messenger Group. Maidstone has an extensive further education campus (Mid Kent College) and a growing higher education offer with both the University for the Creative Arts and Mid Kent College seeking to increase their range of courses and facilities. Residents living in the Borough have relatively high wages (although many higher earners commute out of the Borough to achieve these). Maidstone came out as the top destination for business in the 2010 study of locations for business in Kent.

Starting in 1971 as one of the intuitions of the founder, Giandomenico Martini, in Ravenna takes shape M.A.I.E., a new reality that works locally in Romagna. From the start, M.A.I.E. is able to count on high level technical partnerships: Bobcat, a guarantee for compact machines, Massey Ferguson, a reference for excavators, bulldozers, backhoe loaders and Hanomag: 1st class wheel loaders. In the early years, the customer orientated M.A.I.E. is rewarded by the market with a growing success, soon becoming an interprovincial company. In the late 70s, a deep international recession caused the twilight of Massey Ferguson and Hanomag. It's time to change course. 1981-1985 M.A.I.E. rethinks its future on a broader basis, confirming the strong relationship with Bobcat. In the earthmoving machinery sector, it opens a partnership with Fiat Allis and Simit extending its range to the segment of road machinery through a partnership with Bitelli. 1986. The fifteen years experienced M.A.I.E. takes off, leveraging on the innovations proposed by technical partners to which is added the heir of Fiat Allis: Fiat Hitachi, and Simit. These strategic alliances, together with the traditional service guidance of the company, pushes it towards an inter-regional dimension. 1996. M.A.I.E. takes the challenge of yet another successful innovation: the professional rental. 2000. M.A.I.E. strengthens and expands its horizons in the segment of road machinery, through its new partnership with the Wirtgen Group. 2001-2005 M.A.I.E. supports the first major rationalization project started by CNH in the earthmoving and construction field, confirming the new partnership with Fiat Kobelco up to the universal new brand, New Holland: a 20 year business partnership with the Fiat Group. M.A.I.E. is a strong reality, with its headquarters in Ravenna, and subsidiaries in Lombardia, Piemonte, Valle d'Aosta, Trentino, Veneto, Friuli, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Toscana, Umbria and Lazio.
