LDAWE is a registered charitable organization in Canada and is a chapter of our provincial (LDAO) and national Associations (LDAC). LDAWE was reactivated in 1993 by a small group of concerned parents and professionals in the Windsor – Essex County area, who were committed to improving the quality of life for people with learning disabilities. Today we offer several different programs and services to assist children, youth and adults with learning disabilities or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder to reach their full potential. Our mission is to assist children, youth, and adults with learning disabilities, and those who support them, through information sharing, support, and relevant programs. Learning Enterprises connects volunteers who wish to spend their summer teaching in a foreign country with villages and schools around the world who want to provide extra conversation based English classes for their students. The mission of Learning Enterprises is to expand people’s horizons through conversation-based English language classes taught by USA and international volunteers. Our mission is guided by five principles: 1. Fostering creativity in children and adults 2. Expanding horizons through access to the English language as means of communication 3. Promoting understanding through cross-cultural exchange 4. Spreading the spirit of volunteerism 5. Providing substantive and rewarding work experience for young people Our program benefits the children in developing countries who take part in our classes, the host families who open their homes and minds to LE volunteers, and our volunteers who work as teachers for the summer. There is no participation fee for taking part in an LE program, we let our volunteers decide what they want to do in the classroom and we are run entirely by volunteers.

Learning Environments Australasia promotes quality design of learning spaces and professional development amongst a community of educators, designers and decision-makers. We advocate for innovative learning spaces to improve learning and teaching outcomes. We are part of a global organisation called the Association for Learning Environments, which has over 5,000 active members across Australasia, North America and the UK. Our members are educators, architects, designers, planners, suppliers and policy makers working to share best practice in quality learning environments.
