Das Labor Becker, Olgemöller & Kollegen entstand 1995 durch Fusion der Laboratorien Becker (gegr. 1979) und Olgemöller (vormals Prof. Gries, gegr. 1967). Durch Integration des Labors Bamberg im Jahr 2005 entstand eine ortsübergreifende Berufsausübungsgemeinschaft. Das Labor ist nicht nur fachlich, sondern auch wirtschaftlich von den ärztlichen Inhabern geführt. Es wurde als eines der ersten medizinischen Labors in Deutschland akkreditiert (seit 1998 DIN EN ISO 15189, DACH). Das labormedizinische Leistungsverzeichnis deckt das komplette analytische Spektrum ab, von der klinischen Chemie über die Gerinnung und Hämatologie hin zu Immunologie, Infektionsserologie, Immunhämatologie und Mikrobiologie. Molekularbiologische Techniken sind in vielen Fällen sowohl für infektiologische als auch humangenetische Fragestellungen Methode der Wahl. Eine Besonderheit stellt das Neugeborenenscreening dar, das wir deutschlandweit bereits seit 1999 routinemäßig mittels Tandem-Massenspektrometrie durchführen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt ist die gynäkologische Zytologie, die seit 2002 fester Bestandteil des Labors ist. Seit 2011 verfügt unser Labor auch über eine Pathologie, die sämtliche histo- und außergynäkologisch- zytopathologischen Untersuchungen einschließlich Immunhistologie aller Organe sowie Punktate und Körperflüssigkeiten durchführt. In Kooperation mit der Abteilung Molekularbiologie wächst das Spektrum molekular-pathologischer Verfahren. Mit diesen Kernkompetenzen bedienen wir eine Vielzahl niedergelassener Ärzte angeschlossen sind mehrere Laborgemeinschaften ebenso wie Kliniken und universitäre Einrichtungen sowie Forschungsinstitute im Rahmen klinischer Studien. Für eine Reihe von Akuthäusern bestehen Komplettversorgungen. An mehreren Standorten (u.a. im Münchner Rotkreuz-Krankenhaus) betreiben wir eigene 24 Stunden-Notfall-Laboratorien, die auch niedergelassenen Kollegen zur Verfügung stehen.
