accounting
What is JMAS? The John Molson Accounting Society (JMAS) is a student run association operating as a subsidiary of the Commerce and Administration Students’ Association (CASA) of the John Molson School of Business (JMSB). As one of the oldest associations in JMSB, we have the honor to represent the largest major specific student base; the accounting student body. We strive to enhance the university experience of accounting students by providing opportunities to bridge the gap between the L’Ordre des Comptables Professionnels Agreés du Québec (OCPAQ), accounting professionals, faculty members and their peers. Who are we? The team is composed of 15 regular, and yet special, undergraduate JMSB students. The team was formed by our two co-Presidents, with the goal in mind to shine a bright light on our school and it’s students. As an organization, we strive for three things; competence, excellence and character. Our team is composed of students who are on the precipice of graduation, others who are about to begin their second year, and some in between. However, we all have one thing in mind, and it is to make the most out of our mandates. What do we do? Our main priority is to bring as many opportunities as possible to our student body. We do so by organizing academic, social and professional events. Our annual recruitment cocktail is the highlight of the year, with over 500 students and company representatives networking together. As a result, our students have been recognized as the talented professionals they are. Furthermore, we represent Concordia University at many external accounting conferences. Throughout our mandate, we organize the best academic and social events possible to enhance the university experience of all students at JMSB.
higher education
JMSBG is a graduate student organization with a mission to build responsible business leaders by instilling a clear understanding of the viability and value of sustainable business practices within JMSB graduate students, which they will apply throughout their careers, in any organization. Essentially, JMSB graduate students are developing skills which will likely one day put them in a position of power; over business decisions, over the planet, and over people. Our goal is to ensure JMSB graduates keep the triple-bottom line in mind (people, planet, and profit), when they apply these skills. We hope to educate, inspire, and empower JMSB graduate students on this topic, through workshops, speakers, local industry representatives & site visits, career information, and other resources.
JMWL raises awareness on gender inequalities and the various challenges it poses in the corporate world. The hosting of conferences and speaker panels inform students and allow them to realize the impact of their actions in their community. Then, through the application of workshops and community involvement projects, we encourage young men and women to recall their own experiences and express how they plan to make a difference in the world around them. Their individual actions will collectively create solutions to counteract inequality in the corporate world. JMWL provides a support network composed of students, professionals, and corporate executives to help our community accomplish their goals, and encourage them to reach their full potential. Equality benefits everyone!
