The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba is a public foundation that manages a growing endowment fund that exceeds $148 million. Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed over $77 million in grants and scholarships in the local community and across Canada. The Foundation, in keeping with our Jewish heritage and values, encourages and facilitates the creation and growth of endowment funds to enable the community to realize its potential. The Foundation maintains effective stewardship over all assets entrusted to it; distributes grants that reflect donors’ wishes and community priorities; and provides leadership in the Jewish and general communities. The Foundation has always operated under the mandate to receive capital gifts, which remain intact in perpetuity, invest them, and then distribute the annual income back to the local community, as well as to national and Israeli causes. The income supports an array of organizations and individuals involved in: -Education -Arts and Culture -Health and Social Services -Jewish life -Recreation -Religion Donors can direct the income from their funds to designated causes or they may choose to have the Foundation disperse the proceeds where they are most needed, in the form of grants or scholarships. There are various types of funds administered by the Foundation, which allow the donors flexibility and creativity in making their philanthropic decisions. Prudent investment policies ensure that the distribution potential of each and every fund is maximized.

Jewish Holocaust Centre

The JHC has been visited by more than 650,000 people since opening its doors in 1984. Its vision was created by the Centres founders, who wanted to educate young Australians about the dangers of racism and to develop an understanding of the Holocaust. The Centre is made up of several departments which include a library, education department, archival and artefact collection and an audio visual facility for interviewing survivors and digitising more than 1,500 testimonies.
