Hacks/Hackers London is a community full of journalists and technologists focused around a monthly meetup and other events. Our members work with code, build tools for news-gathering, start companies, write and record stories, crunch data, break news, subvert distribution, study audiences, share knowledge, chase baddies, and chat. We started out as a gathering in a pub basement back in 2010. Since then we've grown to become one of the UK's most regular and well-attended journalism and tech events. We’ve also branched out into Connect, a weekend-long event for entrepreneurs, and other side projects, as well as our yearly summer picnic. We've always been a volunteer-run organisation, which means the organisers run it alongside their jobs and need lots of help! Volunteers are very welcome. In 2018 HHLDN received funding from Google News Initiative which enabled us to hire our first event producer. We’re working hard behind the scenes to make HHLDN more accessible to everyone.

The Hacksmith team is made up of outside-the-box thinkers who take fictional ideas from comics, movies, and video games and make real working prototypes. We are social influencers and we make money by selling advertising to companies who want to reach our targeted viewer demographic.
