Our work at Fair & Square Imports is about empowerment. Empowering artisans and farmers in some of the poorest countries around the world with the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and dependency. Fair & Square Imports is a brick and mortar store in downtown McKinney, Texas and is now also carrying select in-store items online. We carry only fair trade, handmade goods from over 30 different developing countries. Fair trade empowers someone to help themselves and their family out of poverty through a craft or trade. At Fair and Square we believe you can eliminate poverty by connecting humans from low-income communities to education and employment opportunities. Together with the Samugam Foundation, a grassroots organisation from India (Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu) we offer tailor training and fair work to disadvantaged women. With these women we create organic cotton bags that can be personalized and screen-printed with your logo or design. They are a sustainable alternative for plastic shopping bags and perfect for putting your business in the spotlight. Our bags are 100% GOTS organic cotton and CO2-neutral. Through this dignified work the women can highly improve the living conditions of themselves and their families. All profits are used to support the different projects of Samugam. The Fair Cape business started on the farm called Kuiper-skraal in the mid 1990’s. The factory on the farm was relatively small and consisted only of a milk parlor and the milk production area. Over the years the facilities have expanded substantially in order to accommodate the additional milk parlor facilities, the milk production area, dry stores, cold chain, as well as the office environment for the Administration and Sales and Marketing staff.
