The Edinburgh Assay Office has been testing and hallmarking precious metals since 1457 and today services some of the worlds premier jewellery brands. Our primary service is to assay and subsequently apply hallmarks to articles of gold, silver, platinum and palladium in compliance with National and International regulations. In addition to our standard hallmarking, we offer additional services, developed to keep pace with the demands of the industry. The scheme is underpinned by a strict code of conduct and provides an independent arbitration service for retailers and consumers.
