food & beverages
Ba’get is a brand new food concept based on the Banh Mi, a Vietnamese street food invented during the Indo-chine period when the French colonised Vietnam in the late 1800’s. This period created a fusion of cuisine that many welcome as a celebration of the best of both cultures. The French brought over their crispy, crunchy baguettes with pates and charcuterie meats and the locals added the flavours of Vietnam, incorporating chillies, coriander, pickles, fresh vegetables and sauces. This created a taste and texture sensation making it the popular street food it is today. The biggest difference between Ba’get and so many other Banh Mi outlets is our focus on keeping the flavours true to form and authentic. So much of Asian food is twisted and changed to being indistinguishable from their original form. Ba’get is about keeping the age old family recipes true and alive. We are passionate making our product authentic and regionally specific; focusing on two key products and doing it well. The recipes are a closely guarded family secret dating back to the earliest instances of Banh Mi in Saigon. It is the real deal. Our mission is to bring the Ba’get experience to the world. To be authentic and real in everything we do, from sourcing great suppliers, to finding authentic and real people to work with us and to being authentic and real with our customers. “Half truths are never true, nor can true love ever come in halves” Ultimately, authenticity is something that will stand the test of time.
architecture & planning
Jill Brunstad is a Manhattan-based registered architect. Her practice focuses on specialty upscale retail design as well as innovative residential design. With precision, and an eye towards incorporating materials for alternative uses, Jills approach integrates environmentally sustainable materials and labor methods, and green production techniques, making all her designs earth-friendly. Prior to launching her practice in 1999, Jill worked with Italian architect Claudio Nardi, in Florence, Italy, and Sir Norman Foster and Partners in London, England. While working on large commercial tower development in Foster and Partners' London office, Jill gained a solid background in sustainability-maximizing designs. Foster and Partners has long been a leader in ecology and energy consumption in architecture, pioneering design solutions that use renewable sources and dramatically reduce their projects' carbon footprint. While working with Italian architect Claudio Nardi on global store designs for high end retailers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Jill utilized classic historic preservation and restoration techniques -- as the modern retail environments were often housed inside historic thirteenth century palazzi. Jill frequently worked with local master artisans in Florence to produce custom retail and residential designs. Collaborating directly with the craftsmen, Jill successfully fused old-world techniques with a modern design sensibility. After spending 10 years abroad working for world-class design firms, Jill returned to her native New York City to open her own practicespecializing in upscale fashion and beauty retail design and residential design. Jill provides her clients with fresh ideas and innovative design solutions that capture both a lifestyle or a brand identity. Current clients include: Eileen Fisher, the eco-friendly womens apparel company, and Jurlique, the Australian-based, all natural skincare company, and Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas.
