Uspiritus was founded in 2012 with the merger of Bellewood Home for Children and Brooklawn Child & Family Services, two organizations that had each been in operation for more than 160 years. In their beginnings, both grew from the desire of Protestant churches to nurture and provide for children who needed help most. Today, Uspiritus is one of Kentuckys largest youth care organizations, providing care for more than 1,400 abused, neglected and traumatized youth per year. We provide services for boys and girls ages 6-18 in our residential programs, ages 0-21 in our community based programs and ages 18-21 in our Independent Living programs, which are designed to provide housing and support for those who have aged out of Department of Community Based Care system and have been in Uspiritus other programs. Our mission: Restoring Hope, Instilling Confidence, Furthering Education, Encouraging Spirituality and Faith through a comprehensive continuum of care for vulnerable youth and families.
