The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (formerly University of Sokoto) is one of the seven second generation Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in September 1975. It currently has ten Faculties (Agriculture, Arts, Education, Law, Management Sciences, Science, Social Sciences, Medical College, and Veterinary Sciences. In addition, it has a Postgrduate School and 4 research centres (Centre for Islmic Studies, Centre for Hausa Studies, Centre for Energy Research, Centre for Enviromntal Studies, and Centre for Peace Studies). Its students come from across Nigeria and West Africa.
