us psychiatric rehabilitation (uspra)

In 1975, the U.S. Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (USPRA) and its members developed and defined the practice of psychosocial/ psychiatric rehabilitation, establishing these services as integral to community-based treatment and leading the recovery movement. Today, USPRA is the preeminent association advancing the practice of psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery. USPRA is the only organization founded on a shared commitment to improve and promote the practice and outcomes of psychiatric rehabilitation. We bring together agencies, practitioners, families and persons living with psychiatric disabilities, leaders in psychiatric rehabilitation education and research from major universities across the United States and the world, as well as state and federal government entities dedicated to improving outcomes in a cost-effective, evidenced-based and highly successful model. With nearly 30 state chapters, USPRA and its chapters offer both local and national training and networking opportunities. State chapters provide increased opportunities for member participation. Separately or in concert with broader association efforts, each chapter provides members with educational opportunities, advocates for state legislative and regulatory changes, and promotes the development of leadership within the field of psychiatric rehabilitation. For more than 30 years and with nearly 1,400 members, USPRA is the leading psychiatric rehabilitation organization in the United States.
