tall ship providence foundation

We are a maritime heritage non-profit organization in Alexandria, Virginia Our mission is to promote for posterity the rich maritime, naval, and American Revolutionary War history in Alexandria, Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay region. It is our vision for the Tall Ship Providence Foundation to facilitate and host educational programs and events in order to bring a very interesting piece of history to life. We are in the process of acquiring our tall ship, The Providence. She, (being our ship), will arrive in the early Summer of 2019; reaching her new home port in Old Town Alexandria. Our ship is a twelve-gun, 110’ sloop-of-war, that is a full-scale replica of the Continental Navy's first warship. An interesting set of fun facts are: (1) John Paul Jones, father of the United States Navy, had her as his first command, (2) The Providence was one of the ships that launched Marines on their first amphibious assault on foreign soil in the American War for Independence, and (3) The Providence shares a connected history with our region; one of its first missions in the American Revolution was to clear the Chesapeake Bay of enemy British and Tory ships to enable Patriot supply routes. Join us in our efforts to share an incredible history with the community, our guests, and future generations. We welcome your support! The IRS recognizes the Tall Ship Providence Foundation as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. No gifts or services will be received in exchange for this donation, and it is tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. https://www.tallshipprovidence.org/donate-now?olsFocus=false&olsPage=products/tall-ship-providence-foundations-donate
