Samaritans Switzerland is a rescue organisation of the SRC based in Olten. It promotes the use of volunteers in rescue, health and social services and ensures that first aid and support is provided to people who have had accidents or are ill. With spontaneous or supplementary care and nursing missions, the SSB fills gaps in the network of social institutions. It promotes health awareness and accident prevention. In Switzerland, more than 20,000 Samaritans are involved in around 900 local Samaritan associations and a good 2,800 young people in 130 Samaritan youth groups.
