Recognice

Our climate is changing and all over the planet, this evolution is expressed in different ways. However, it appears to be that the changing cryosphere is the most tangible and most visible indicator of climate change: glaciers, ice sheets, ice bergs, snow, sea ice and even permafrost. Recogn.ice is a global non-profit organisation for the recognition of the cryosphere. Our mission is to make people recognise, understand and ultimately care about all the cold, icy features on our planet. Founded in February 2019 in Zurich, the core team of Recogn.ice consists of a glacierologist, a geologist, a communications consultant, an award-winning designer, data scientists and IT specialists. Together, we strive to present these features and data in an attractive and intuitive way : - with yellow frames indicating the very presence of the surrounding expression of the cryosphere ; - with an intuitive app ; - with an educational website mapping the cryosphere. The association is supported by the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS, based in Zurich), which gives us direct access to the most up-to-date worldwide glacier data.
