Newcastle Anglican

The Diocese of Newcastle has a rich history, celebrating 175 years in the Newcastle region as the longest-serving church, founded by Bishop William Tyrrell in 1847. Through our vision, People flourishing because of what we do, inspired by the way of Jesus; our purpose and focus are outreach to the community. With over fifty parishes in the Diocese, our footprint extends from the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Hunter, Paterson, and Port Stephens to the Manning region of New South Wales, Australia. The Newcastle Anglican ministry meets the needs of our community through its agencies Anglican Care, Samaritans, and Newcastle Anglican Schools. As fresh expressions of church emerge in response to becoming a mission-shaped church, many of our parishes are progressing towards Ministering Communities in Mission. Samaritans have provided care in the community for 40 years, with over 500 staff in disability, youth, children's and community services. In addition, our volunteers, many of whom are parishioners, assist with emergency relief and recycling programs. They are a large part of our social welfare service, with over 400 individuals supporting it. Newcastle Anglican supports our elderly community through its aged care service, Anglican Care, which caters to 600 residents and continues to grow its services throughout the community with Home Care and Retirement Living services. At Newcastle Anglican, our four schools are committed to providing an inclusive educational environment rich in opportunities for our 3000 students. We desire them to be curious and self-confident learners who develop a deep knowledge base and are passionate about learning. Our schools are located across the Central Coast, Lakes Grammar An Anglican School, Newcastle, Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College, Mid-North Coast, Manning Valley Anglican College and Upper Hunter, Scone Grammar School.
