New Family Social

New Family Social is the only UK charity led by and for LGBTQ+ adopters & foster carers. It offers peer support services and works with adoption/foster care agencies to make them more accessible to LGBTQ+ people, through training and good practice advice We're a self-help membership organisation, formed in 2007 after identifying the need for LGBTQ+ adopters and foster carers to support each other. We also support our children by developing their confidence in knowing other families like theirs. From January 2006 unmarried couples, including same-sex couples, could adopt jointly in England and Wales. Soon after this change, a group of adopters and foster carers identified several areas of need, leading to the creation of New Family Social. We've come a long way. New Family Social is now a registered charity, working closely with many adoption and foster care agencies across the UK. Our income comes mostly from over 100 adoption and fostering agencies. These provide support for their families, by subscribing to New Family Social.
