The Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake (formerly the Earthquake Commission) exists to reduce the impact of natural hazards on people, property, and the community. We do this is by providing natural hazards cover for homes and residential land, for a range of natural hazards. Since 1945, our scheme has supported the Government in managing the financial impact of significant natural hazard events on New Zealand, and its people. We also fund research and education about natural hazards and ways of reducing their impact, and share this expertise to help build community resilience.
