John Swire & Sons Pty Ltd is a private holding company headquartered in Sydney which has managed Swires interests throughout Australia since 1952. Swires business interests in Australia date from as early as 1855 and today cover a diverse number of industries, including specialised bulk logistics, recycling and materials handling, asphalt production and laying, refrigerated storage and logistics, mining services and mining equipment rental. John Swire & Sons Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of UK based John Swire and Sons Ltd, the parent company of the Swire Group whose holdings include, in addition to a number of significant privately owned companies, the publicly listed companies Swire Pacific, Cathay Pacific Airways, Swire Properties, Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO), and the Papua New Guinea based Steamships Trading Company. As Swires Australian representative, John Swire & Sons Pty Ltd provides management for local subsidiaries: Alex Fraser, Swire Cold Storage (including Vietnam), HSE and Kalari. The role of the holding company is to enable the execution of the subsidiaries strategies.
