Garrett College

Overlooking Deep Creek Lake, the Wisp Resort and the Adventure Sports Center International in the mountains of western Maryland, Garrett’s 62-acre campus is surrounded by the forests, lakes, and rivers that serve as outdoor classrooms and recreation sites for its students. The main campus in McHenry, MD, is approximately 15 miles south of I-68 on U.S. 219. Outreach centers are located in the towns of Grantsville, Accident and Oakland. The College has acquired a national and international reputation for its Adventure Sports degree and enjoys a strong regional reputation for its program in Natural Resources and Wildlife Technology. Garrett also offers exceptional educational opportunities in Business and Information Technology along with Arts & Sciences and Teacher Education transfer programs. To make these and other programs available to students at a distance, Garrett was the first community college in Maryland to add residence halls to its campus. Garrett programs lead to Associate in Arts (A.A.) Associate of Science in Engineering (A.S.E.), and Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) degrees, the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, and a variety of credit and non-credit certificate programs. A low student-faculty ratio offers students individualized attention in their studies. Garrett College graduates are well prepared for success in their chosen careers and for transfer to the many colleges with which Garrett has articulation agreements. All who work and learn at Garrett College contribute to its mission "to provide accessible, quality education in a supportive environment to a diverse student population...to meet the transfer, career, workforce development and lifelong learning needs of our students and the community." The College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
