Association of Camerados

we’re camerados, the public living room people. we get together and get each other through tough times. so what’s a public living room? imagine the feeling you get when you sit down somewhere you love and feel the world lift a little. then imagine you’re with people who listen, who treat everyone the same, who don’t judge or try to fix you. that’s a public living room. and what’s a camerado? it can be anyone. we always say a camerado is someone who’s halfway between a stranger and a friend – someone who doesn’t know you well and won’t try to solve your problems for you, but who listens and has your back. it’s anyone who knows that when people get together and look out for each other, we can find a way through anything. human connection and mutual aid can divert many of the our biggest hairiest problems and they give each of us the two things that we believe are essential to mend tough days and broken lives: friends and purpose. so we create ideas to make this happen and our current focus is public living rooms - places to connect and look out for each other. we've put them in a prison, hospital, football stadium, library and more in towns and cities in the uk and usa.
