Back on the Map was established in 2001 as the locally-lead New Deal for Communities (NDC) partnership. Having successfully delivered the transformational £54M NDC programme of improvements we have established a new set of goals for the future. These are to build; A Better Place A Stronger Community An Influencing Role for Residents Back on the Map is now a registered charity with a board of trustees consisting of up to six residents and five non-residents. We have a wholly owned trading subsidiary of the charity, Back on the Map Enterprises, which generates income for the charity through the rental of our homes. Our work has attracted support from local entrepreneurs and has won us two prestigious accolades. Firstly in 2011 Back on the Map was announced as the winner of RICS Regeneration Award for North East Renaissance reflecting our success in creating A Better Place. We then won the Sunderland Echo Pride of Wearside Community Group of the Year 2011 acknowledging our work in creating a stronger community.
